The basic formula you can use if you are not using standard lengths, is 25.4 multiplied by the strand length, then divide the answer by the bead size you are using.
Example: You want to make a 20 inch necklace using 2.5mm beads.
25.4 x 20 = 508, then 508 ÷ 2.5 = 203.2, so you will need roughly 203 beads to complete your project.
Remember to only measure the length that will have beads, clasps and other findings will add length to your project.
